THE PROPOSED CHANGES!

September 1, 1999

I'm going to try to explain this in plain ole' English without the any glitter or confusion. Here's the facts. (I will send this to the Texas Lottery and ask them to clarify each statement with a true or false answer only. If anything is incorrect, I will fix it. I don't want any misunderstandings. There is a chart at the bottom that may help you.)

1. Currently - When you pick 3 numbers that are all on one ticket or the same line playing Lotto Texas, you win $3. Changes - You will win $5 with the proposed change. By the same token, if you pick only 2 of the first 6 numbers but you have the 7th number (bonus number) drawn, you will still win $5.

2. Currently - You choose from 6 numbers 1 through 50 playing Lotto Texas. Changes - You will choose 6 from numbers 1 through 54 playing Lotto Texas.

3. Currently - To pick 6 of the 50 numbers drawn playing Lotto Texas, your odds are one in 15,890,700. Changes - To pick 6 of the 54 numbers drawn playing Lotto Texas - your odds are one in 25.8 million.

4. Currently - If you pick 6 out of 6 numbers drawn, each winning ticket splits the jackpot - whatever it is. Changes - If you pick 6 out of the FIRST 6 numbers drawn - each winning ticket still splits the jackpot. But, if your 6 numbers by chance include the 7th (bonus number) number drawn, you win only 10,000 even though you had all 6 numbers.

5. Currently - If you pick 5 out of 6 numbers, you usually win upward of $1500 to $2000. Changes - If you pick 5 out of the first 6 numbers drawn, you will win only $1000?

6. Currently - If you pick 4 of the 6 numbers drawn, you usually win somewhere between $80 and $120. Changes - You will win $25. Now if you pick 4 out of the FIRST 6 numbers and have the 7th number (bonus number) too, you will win $250.

7. Currently - If you play the Cash 5 and pick all 5 of the 5 numbers drawn (out of 39 balls total), you will win $85,000 or a half, a third or whatever the case may be of the jackpot - The odds are one in 575,757. If you pick 5 of the 6 numbers drawn playing Lotto Texas, and you have the "bonus" (7th) number too - then you will win $10,000. The odds are one in 25.8 million.

8. Currently - Only 50% of all sales is applied to the jackpots. Changes - Only the legislature can change this.

9. Currently - The lotto jackpot starts at $4 million. Changes - The lotto jackpots will still start at $4 million.

Let's chart the plan- This will help you understand.

Pick This Many Numbers and
Win This Prize Amount

The "7" is the bonus number.

1 2 3 4 5 6 $$$Jackpot Prize $$$
1 2 3 4 5 $1000
1 2 3 4 $25
1 2 3 $5

1 2 3 4 5 7 $10,000
1 2 3 4 7 $250
1 2 3 7 $25
1 2 7 $5

So, question is, does this sound like a good deal to you?? If you don't want this change, please ACT NOW.
