I have charted the division of the prize monies since July 1, 2000. They are
grouped together in consecutive draws until there was a jackpot winner.
You can also see who won, how much they were paid and who sold
the winning ticket.
When there is no jackpot winner, his percentage of sales, 40.47% of sales,
is "carried over."
When
someone finally wins, add the carryover from
each
drawing in the roll and
this is
how much he receives UNLESS
the "investment cost" is greater than the amount in the "prize pool."
The TLC guarantees the greater of the two figures. I keep the
amount due a winner current at all times. Just click here to see
exactly how much you should collect if you win.
Prize Pool
50% of sales is how much the TLC is suppose
to return
to players by way of prizes.
Prize Structure
(Effective 4-23-06 - From total sales)
6 of 6 winners divide - 40.47%
5 of 6 winners divide - 2.23%
4 of 6 winners divide - 2.28%
*3 of 6 winners - 4.02% is allocated to pay winners
States Share - 50% of total sales
*3 of 6 winners receive a guaranteed prize of $3. It is for this reason
that we have no guarantee that we will really receive 50% of sales.
The Distribution of Lotto Texas Monies
See how Lotto Texas monies are distributed, what the prize allocations
were for all four Lotto Texas matrices and how to figure Lotto Texas sales.

Unclaimed Prize Monies
Note: Keep in mind when reviewing the amounts held in winning
tickets that many players NEVER claim their prizes.
Those funds go into
the "Unclaimed Prize Fund" and the money is not returned to players.
See how much has gone unclaimed - it will shock you. Click here

Lotto Texas - Brief History
Lotto Texas began in Nov 1992. The matrix was 6/50.
The Texas Lottery
added four balls (6/54) to the Lotto Texas on July 19, 2000.
The Texas Lottery changed the matrix again on May 7, 2003 - 5/44 and 1/44 - 88 balls.
The Texas Lottery changed the matrix again on April 23, 2006 back to 6/54, however,
they reduced the low tier prize amounts and lowered the prize pool to 50% of sales
When the TLC changed Lotto Texas on May 7, 2003, they lowered the
players percentage of sales from 55% to 52%. Then when they went
back to the matrix of 6/54 on April 23, 2006, they again lowered the
players percentage of sales from 52% to 50% with NO guarantee
that we'll actually see 50% of sales returned to players in way of prizes.
