| E-mails Continued..... Page 2 Back to First Page...I am opposed to the proposed lottery changes. I am not in favor of increasing our odds from 1 in 15 million to 1 in 25 million. The only only thing positive I see us gaining out of this change is that if we get 3 numbers right, we get $5 instead of $3. Wow! I wouldn't know what to do with the extra money. jerry s. I Say NO to Proposed Amendment to 16 tac Section 401.305. Lotto is a gambling game. The odds are always in the favor of the host. If, raising the odds to raise jackpot amounts makes it seem more attractive, compelling more people to purchase more chances to win, who actually have less chance to win, makes it less attractive to me! Super jackpots benefit fewer people. Yes, revenue for Texas but what are the real costs? Better odds or more chances to win, such as pot splitting at capped amounts for more drawings or leaving it as is, will keep me as a player. Making the possibilities slimmer will not!!! Clifton M. S. Angleton, Texas 77515 Hi Ms.Dawn Nettles, Did one petition at work and left one at the convenience store where I buy our group of 4's tickets every fourth week, great reception. I printed and attached your summary of changes and carried them additional petitions that evening as the one I'd attached was full and they'd started a notebook paper 2nd sheet. Due to the short time frame I'll forward by regular mail as sheets fill up. Most folks are fed up and fully intend to stop playing if by chance this 401.305 should become law. Love the game tired of the greed of the non-participants/recipients of our largesse. With appreciation for your efforts, Sincerely, Guy W. LaPorte, Tx. 77571 (Thank you for all 3 petitions! Please, keep the petitions in the stores, so people can continue to sign them! Technically, we have until Oct. 10 for public comment. Then - no more time.) I Say NO to Proposed Amendment to 16 tac Section 401.305. As a Player of the Texas Lottery I am strictly opposed to the new Amendment, as it would unduly burden the Players of the Lottery by increasing the odds in an unfavorable manner. If the Texas State Lottery feels compeled to increase revenues then it is my humble suggestion that they adopt a Pick 4 game. Alfredo D. - Ft. Worth Tx. Dear Dawn, I am an avid lotto player each and every day. I play the cash 5 & big lotto religiously. I hope I am not to late in voicing my displeasure in the commissions attempt to raise the ball count to 54. I am declaring my opposition to proposed amendment to 16 tac section 401.305. Should the ball count be raised to 54 I would with out a doubt play the games less. Sincerely, Keith D. B. I am opposed to the proposed amendment to 16 tac Section 401.305. Thank you, Carol B NO, NO, NO TO AMENDMENT 16 tac Section 401.305! I have played Lotto on every drawing since it started. The odds are low enough. I'm against any change. If it is changed I'll spend my money on anything but the lottery! Cindy H. W - Aubrey Dear Dawn, Thanks for your help. I hope this will help. I Say NO to Proposed Amendment to 16 tac Section 401.305. Best regards, Ed T. I Say NO to Proposed Amendment to 16 tac Section 401.305. Please add my sentiments toward the proposed amendment by the Lotto Commission. Sincerely. C. Alan P Do not change from 50 to 54. I play at least 5 games each drawing. I use various random generator items to select each time I play more than 5 games. Each is already set to be on 50 numbers. I play for the enjoyment of the selection process of the 50 numbers. Take my toys away and I will stop playing. Seems greed is at the root of this change. They can pay more for 3 numbers and still not change the current 50 system. Johnny G I say absolutely not to the proposed change from 50 to 54 numbers. It doesn't pay as well as it used to already and I for one will stop buying if the chance for payouts gets even smaller. Melony B. Subject: I Say NO to Proposed Amendment to 16 tac Section 401.305. I sure hope we can pull this off. From what the Lottery Commission has proposed, I'm not sure there's a single working brain cell in the whole bunch of them! Duane Subject: Re:Amendment 16 tac Section 401.305. I am against the proposal to add more numbers to the Texas Lottery. Luther B. Subject: I Say NO to Proposed Amendment to 16 tac Section 401.305. I don't like the higher odds! Larry and the REST Please add my name to the NO, I'm against adding four numbers. G. Lee G. I oppose the proposed change from 50 lotto numbers to 54. The odds are difficult enough as it is without making them worse. If you think sales are low now just wait to see them if they pass this stupid proposed change. Bill C. Please do not change the Lotto Texas rules to include four more balls. I do not feel this is a desirable or necessary change. Thank you. Mary Alice T. - Houston, TX 77059 This kind of cheapskate flim-flam is exactly why I have started playing the Florida lotto and not Texas. Florida has a better payout and slightly better odds. To the Texas lotto committee: Go ahead and change it to 54 balls and 25+ million odds. You think your sales are sagging now......just wait and see how far down they go. Sandra B. I say no to proposed amendment 16 tac section 401.305. This is a typical fix that just makes things worse. Randy O. I oppose the changes that are currently under consideration for the pick 6. I feel that by doing this it will make the odds of winning so out of reach that people who play will stop. I myself would rather have a better chance of winning 4 to10 million or more, than a next to nothing chance of winning some huge jackpot. I feel that by having a better chance of winning smaller jackpots it helps to distribute more wealth to more people and families. I say if it ain't broke than don't fix it. Maybe what needs to be looked at is the way the lottery is being managed. I probably will play a lot less if they change it, and I'm afraid that a lot of other players will stop playing as much to, thus making the jackpot not worth much more than it already is. I say NO! to Proposed Amendment 16 tac Section 401.305. Steve of Fredericksburg Tx. Hi, My name is Sharon and my husband James & I are totally against the changes proposed by the Lottery Officials. They keep stressing it will get more players because they are not getting as many players when the prize money is low. Well, what about us loyal players who have played each and every drawing since it began. We feel it unfair to penalize loyal players just because they are not getting enough players. Why not provide some special incentives for people to play when the jackpot is lower, like a free bet if you purchase 5, something like that might help increase the numbers of people playing. Is it legal for them to change a game like this after it has been in operation for as many years as this game has? Without taking it to the public for their input? This seems unfair to us. James & Sharon M Just another way for politicians to go after taxpayers money any way possible. I say no no no to proposed amendment 16 tac section 401.305. Long time lotto player - David Sanger,TX Dawn, I say NO to the proposed changes. It is obvious that the Texas Lottery "suspected" the people of Texas would not approve of these changes to Lotto Texas. The PROOF lies on their web site. Go to their site, go to "News & Events" go to "News & Press Releases." I checked all press releases and didn't find ONE press release regarding the changes. It should be mandatory to promote ANY proposed changes in the same manner the games themselves are promoted. How can the people comment on something they know nothing about? You can rest assured they been working on this "idea" for quite some time and have had ample time and resources for feedback. If the Commissioners allow this change, they will be held accountable. I for one will see to it that they are. Thanks for taking on such a task. I will help you when the time comes. George - Austin Hi Dawn. I've watched your lotto report since I found it some time ago. I'm proud someone else is jumping on this. I think it is a lousy change. The commission originally stated they wanted to get in on the big multi-state lottery. I wonder what happened to that position? I cannot get out to assist in obtaining signatures. My vote is no to the proposed change "Re: Proposed amendment 16 tac Section 401.305". I will be sending mail to the listed commissioners and our legislators. Thanks. Rullen NO! NO! AND NO! again to Amendment 16. If this is done I won't play again!!!! I am not happy with any of the fixin that has been done to date. I FEEL CHEATED!!!! I like to win every now and then. With the "NEW" odds, I won't win like I did before the fixin. So I won't buy like I did when we first started. The sad thing is, I normally put my winnings back into tickets. Since I don't win anymore, I don't buy as many tickets. I also feel that the those in charge got GREEDY!!! Better change now or kiss it good-bye. Lark L. No to the Proposed Amendment to 16 tac Section 401.305. Leave our BALLS alone!!!!! James H. NO! NO! NO! 54 is not a number I can live with! Jeanie H. Subject: I definitely say NO to Proprosed Amendment to 16 tac Section 401.305. Please add my disapproval of this proposed change. Thank you, Jeanette N. - Spring Branch, Texas 78070. Subject: LOTTO CHANGES ...just like politicians. They can't keep things simple, and they waste our money screwing up things that don't need fixing instead of working on things that do. Darryl D. Austin, TX. There is NOT one player in Texas who intentionally buys a Lotto Texas ticket in hopes of winning $3, $5, $25, $250, $1000, or $10,000 as your proposed plan offers. If that's the amount we wanted to win, we would play Pick 3, Cash5 or Texas Million. When we play this game, we want to win MILLIONS. Be sure and note there is an "S" on the word Millions. The bottom line to your changes: you are increasing the odds by adding the 4 balls and in return giving us 8 different payouts instead of 4, which incidentially, is paying us less except for the $5 and the unlikely to win $10,000. We don't want it. NO. NO. NO. I will QUIT playing if you make this change. Dawn Nettles - Garland Subject: Adding 4 more balls to Lotto. No! No! No! We in New York, had 54 balls in our lotto game ...players slacked up on heavy betting...the state had to drop 3 balls. Still it could be reduced one more. Texas, is one of the richest states in America, let the people have some riches. Regards, Ms. Chrystal C. New I Say NO to Proposed Amendment to 16 tac Section 401.305. The state is getting enough of the lotto winnings the way it is .......... I Say NO to Proposed Amendment to 16 tac Section 401.305. Harold H.- Houston Subject: Lotto Texas. NO - I am mad too. I'll quit playing if they increase the odds. The government makes to much money off the lotto now. James H. Tomball, TX. Have you received any comments from persons "for" this change? I say no to Proposed Amendment 16 tac Sec. 401-305. Elaine - Paris, TX (No, I have not and that's the God's truth) I agree with Tommy from Plano. If I were a lotto winner, I would buy an ad in my local paper, but incognito, and refer people to your site so they could be well informed about the issues. Then each person could speak up for what ever they believe. Which I'm sure would be NO! <grin> Larry E. - Victoria I have questions. Shouldn't the Lottery consult the People about changing our games before implementing such major changes? Do they have 100,000 votes for adding 4 more balls? How come I didn't have the opportunity to vote before now? Just wondering. I'm having a hard time coming to terms with their thinking. They're wrong and I've lost confidence. I say leave the Lotto alone. If they makes these changes, I'll have extra money because I won't play the lottery EVER AGAIN. Melinda G. - Abilene Dawn: I have an idea for you. It's time to you call in the POWER to help us. The POWER being defined as the 369 Lotto Texas winners. One would assume that these are THE people who can help us - if only they would. Why not ask them? With only 30 days to get the word out, well, short of being negative, there's only one way you can get this job done properly. Newspapers and television. The cost of advertising for the average person is out of the question and is something the state itself should be doing. I think the winners would help us by getting together and splitting the costs. If each donated only $500, that's $184,500. Promotion is all we need to educate the public and you need funds to promote. If you can pull this off, there is NO way the Lottery will appove any changes! Can you do it? Tommy T. - Plano (You have a good idea and might even be onto something, however, I would not take money from them. If they wanted to help us, their help would be welcome and appreciated. I have placed calls to a couple of the winners for their input. We'll see what they say.) Lotto Report, I am NOT an avid lottery player and probably never will be because I already think the odds are too high! Adding 4 more numbers is ludicrous Odds are bad enough, keep 50 balls no more. Dawn Q. - Colleyville Hi Dawn. Thanks for the answer. I printed out petitions to start getting signatures. I am tired of being ripped off by Texas Lotto. Shirley - (Thank-you very much Shirley.) Dear Dawn, I'll send you a copy of the letter I intend to write to protest the change in the conditions for winning. Give me a few days to compose the letter. Don - Dallas Subject: Proposed Lotto Changes. I agree that upping the number of balls in the game will be a bad move. The odds of winning are astronomical already, but at least we're accustomed to them as they presently stand; when it gets even harder to win, it seems like many people who currently play on a routine basis would just give it up entirely. Martha C.- North Dallas I say NO to Amendment 16 tac section 401.305! I've played every lotto from the time it started. If it goes to 54 balls I quit. It's like sitting down at the poker table, if the rules change in the middle of the hand, deal me out. Donnie F.- Kempner Texas Subject: Fw: CHANGES!!!! I have heard that the Lotto is changing. I think the changes stink. 6 of 50 numbers are tough but 6 of 54. COME ON. It is time to give the citizens of Texas a break. Remember, the Lottery and all it's entities was to bring money to Texas. It seems that the Texas Lottery is getting greedy and the citizens of Texas are going to pay. Well, you thought your sales dipped when you changed the odds on the scratch off tickets. Just wait til you see what happens now. You people are going to run the Lottery into the ground. Texas doesn't want casinos because of corruption. Well, I think casinos would be better than the Lottery because you corrupt the Lottery system with all your changes. IT IS CALLED GREED. You need to change the Lottery for the better and quit giving our money to big companies to run it for you. Run it yourself and give the people of Texas a break. And the TEXAS MILLION is a laugh. More big bucks for the state at the expense of fellow Texans. At the rate you all are going, the only change you need to make is drop the Lottery because it has not been what we Texans expected. Always messing with something that was never broken until now. FIX IT! And this time do it right. Shirley O.- A Concerned Texan Subject: Amendment 16 sec401.305. I say no. If any changes are made they should deduct 4 numbers instead. They should also give you 2 lines for a dollar. The Cash 5 should have 26 numbers like Florida. Tony S. - Subject: I Say NO to Proposed Amendment to 16 tac Section 401.305. Ms Dawn Nettles said it most eloquently for all of us who 'play' Texas lotteries with our dearly earned money. Carrol C. - Valliant, Oklahoma I am against this change. I have played the lotto since it started and have won nothing yet. If it is increased to 54 balls I will stop playing it. WHY does TEXAS think this will help when other states such as New York have lowered the number of balls on their lotto's because of low sales. This looks like another case of government acting without thinking. I thought us Texans were better than that. Gary from Kempner, Texas I play about like LottoCharlie and my progress in getting the big one is about the same as his, e.g. about a tenth of 1% return on my investment. Change of odds to one in 29 million gives me a return of about 1/2 that amount. Although I'm sure I'll win next Saturday's $7 million, it's somewhat more assuring if I'm looking at a tenth of 1% rather than half that much assurance. Yes you can count on me to help in your crusade. Roy Adding more numbers to the already outrageous 50 is totally ridiculous! It's bad enough knowing that very little of the money is going to education. Who's pockets are we lining now? If this happens, the odds of me ever playing again will be even greater than the odds of ever winning. Licia - ?? Please check the UK Lottery which also has a 7th bonus number. In the UK Lottery, the prize for 6 numbers including the bonus number is between US$ 100,000 to US$ 400,000. For the prizes mentioned $1 should give us 2 lines (like the New York Lottery. Rohinton D. Look at the "Official Texas Lottery" web site under FAQ, then under "More Lottery Questions" then under "Why isn't Texas part of Power Ball?" second paragraph. Could this new multi state game have something to do with the changes to the original Lotto Texas Game? I agree with you on the "Texas Million" game, but looks like it will fold by itself. The first drawing had 159,607 ten dollar winners and now it only has about 30,000 winners.Wish they would have left cash 5 drawings on Mondays and Fridays too. Melvin B - Texoma I have already voiced my opinion on the Lottery Commission adding 4 more balls to the Lotto drawing. I believe the decision was made before the committee met. I did not hear anything about the proposed change until Friday morning, (one day before the meeting). There was no possible way I could have attended the meeting. I have included my email to the Lottery commission and their response is attached. Wally G. - By the way, just for the record I am totally opposed to the 54 ball thing on the regular lotto. It seems to me its a way for them to put alot more money in their pocket, rather than in the players pocket. Lotto business will drop even more rather than escalate. (I know I'm sticking with cash 5 and pick 3, I stink just as bad on those games as I would the pick 6 <smile>) Thanks, Chris - Austin Subject Line - Leave it at 50. Lynn B. - Dallas. Nothing in body of email. (I have a number of e-mails like this one but I won't post these. But keep them coming. Just be sure to tell me your name and city.) Subject Line Read - My Opinion NO NO NO - I object to the 54 balls instead of 50. Furthermore, I think the lotto would be better if there were more winners. I believe $2 million is sufficient for any winner. I think a jackpot of $4 million should be divided into two winners instead of one. If jackpot reaches $10 million, there should be five winning numbers drawn. Etc. on down the line. If there is $25 million jackpot, should be divided maybe into 5 numbers (or winners)......$5 million/winner if it reaches that high. This is what the people want. Everyone I talk to has same opinion. Raising the odds will result in less tickets purchased. Norma F.- Garland, TX NO - I mad too. I'll quit playing if they increase the odds. Barbara R. - Dallas My company took a poll for you today. Everyone we asked said NO changes. I'm pretty sure I can get everybody to sign a petition. We have 3000 employees. Do you want it? Will it help or have they already made up their minds? Fred L. - Dallas If they want higher jackpots, why don't they lower their take? Our jackpots are just fine. At least we're not guilty of encouraging Texans to spend money they don't have like the Power Ball does. I say NO CHANGES. Barry - Wichita Falls You can tell the Texas Lottery is run by the government. They are always looking for ways to dig deeper into our pockets. NO CHANGES. Thanks for your efforts. Kelly M. - Austin I think it is a disgrace that our very own government will dangle diamonds in our face when they know we can't reach them due to the impossibilities they impose upon us to reach them. What a sad situation this has become. I pray you will be successful in your venture to prevent these changes. I will do my part too. Angela - Dallas I'm mad too Dawn. The Lotto is definitely more exciting when the jackpots are higher and I do spend more money buying tickets. But, I would hate to think what my bank account will look like when I spend more money on a regular basis like they are trying to entice me into doing. It's hard to say NO to a chance at winning. Lets stop these changes for everybody's benefit. I think everyone recognizes that they are only trying to get more of our money. Jim B. - Sherman I sure hope people respond. This change will kill the games of Texas. I say - No changes are needed. Aaron - Houston I don't know why we should be surprised at this move. They are in the money making business and they don't care where they get the money, just so long as they get it. This plan will backfire in their faces. I'll help you. Let me know what job you want to assign me. I've already given the Lottery my opinion. NO. Danny K. - Rockwall Back to First Page |
