The Details of the Don's Experiment
Each player has been given 2 numbers to play (36 numbers total - 18 players) and they will play their assigned numbers until 1 of the 36 comes in. Which we hope will be real soon! Then, that player is deleted from the group so the others will have a chance to win too, but, with another set of numbers.
Depending on how this goes, we'll pull in "back-up" players who have volunteered after the 1st nine or ten wins. But, remember, we must take this one step at a time.
We'll keep all of you posted so you will know each day if one of Dons numbers were drawn. The amount the volunteer wins will depend on many times they play their 2 numbers. We've only ask them to spend $1 per number.
For the record, Don has already tested this method and it was VERY successful. So, now comes the real live test - Also, these numbers are posted here on my web site but only the 18 volunteers can access that page and only the 18 volunteers know what those numbers are. Sorry .... This will be fun. I will tell you the TRUTH about the success or failure of this project.
Re-Cap of Don's Experiment
Phase 2: Play started 1-25-03 & ended 1-29-03 - 11 PM
Phase 3: Pending
We recommend that you NOT purchase
Feb 4, 2003 - From Dawn - Just a reminder - Jeff's prediction on 1-25-03 to play 045 expires tonight. Also, on 1-29-03, I posted a fun play from Chuck that said he believed in "78," '89" and "58." Those all came in and he informed me that he did have the 978 and he bought 580 once as a combo. He also said he did have the 3 with them too but he lost on those. So, Chucks play is over and Jeff has one more day on his.
Feb 2, 2003 - The message Don sent to the volunteers today about the experiment:
I conducted an experiment beginning on Monday, January 20th with the intention of producing 2 to 5 volunteers who might win 8 to 40 times their money. The experiment was ended on Thursday the following week lasting nine days due to Dawns necessary appearance in Austin and the fact, it is necessary to keep in touch with volunteers during the experiment.
Unfortunately, on the 10th day, another volunteer would have won, making 3 people successful during the experiment.
When I examined all that happened during the experiment, I wrote 8 full pages to myself about the experiment and realized - I doubt you want to hear my ramblings. So, although my notes are difficult to condense, here are some of the important points.
First, let me say I do not play any other lottery games. I do not buy a lotto ticket whether it is $100 million or $1 million. My position is that the administrators will continue to use all of you to profit, especially when times are bad as they are now with stock market declines, lost jobs, large companies going bankrupt, and in general, a very difficult time to earn a dollar.
Having declared that, I sent the volunteers a chart talking about the pick 3 game and how much this pick 3 game takes in and how much the players are losing. To sum up, the pick 3 game is a huge enterprise. About $850,000 a day. Over 6 days I selected at random, players LOST about 2 million of 3 million dollars!!!!!
What does that mean? It means your methods, your systems, your dreams, are not coming up enough to make you win. Thus, the experiment was a method I developed to see if I could produce a better return to you than is typical now.
To Joanne, our first winner in the experiment, thank you very much for your participation and an excellent win in your play method. I can tell you read my column!
To Roy, our second winner, just an outstanding strategic play and I can tell you read my methodology over and over as I couldn't have done it better myself.
To Robin, who would have been our third winner, I read all the material you mentioned and I apologize that things worked out the way they did. It is my hope you played one more day in spite of my message, BUT only this one time.
To all the other volunteers, I want to make you big winners and I hope you will continue to experiment with me.
I cannot list all I have to say about the experiment in one column. The finer points are;
1) I selected a window of opportunity to last 10 days in which I attempted to produce 2 to 5 people who could win 8 to 40 times their money. 2 winners occurred over the nine days and their comments are listed here.
2) I correctly assessed the numbers twice during the experiment, at the beginning, and after our first winner occurred producing a second winner. If I had not changed the numbers, no second or third winner would have occurred.
3) I produced a better return to players than is usual according to a six day analysis of the pick 3 game.
4) I said the indicator would produce a winner 99% of the time and that occurred.
5) None of the volunteers were known to me.
6) Unpublished plays have a higher success rate for me than published plays.
Thanks for reading lottoreport.com Don
From Dawn - As usual, Don did good. I know all of you were excited to be a part of this and were impressed with his picks and were hoping for more. And they'll probably come in the near future.
In the meantime, please help me fight this rule change for lotto Texas. It's a terrible injustice to the people. But wait until you see what I want you to do before commenting except - right now, please quit buying lotto Texas tickets. That's the single most important thing. Speak with your dollars - they hear that!
Jan 30, 2003 - From Dawn - I heard from Roy - Player #10, and he is one happy camper - sort of! I say "sort of" because he was the only player to write and say he hoped he didn't win because he liked reading Don's methods that have been sent to the players for the last week and if he won, he knew he wouldn't see those message! Ironic, isn't it?
Equally as ironic, because this was phase 2 of the experiment, meaning one player had been eliminated because she won first, there were two extra numbers up for grabs. Roy was the first one to request one of the "extra" numbers. And it was the "extra" number that won (978)! However, that also meant he spent a minimum of $3 per day for 4 days.
Here's what he had to say -
From Roy - Player #10
Attached is a scan copy of the tickets, let me know if you need a hardcopy copy.
Thanks for allowing me to be part of the experiment.
Attention Volunteers - The experiment is going on hold for a few days. Two reasons - 1) I have to go to Austin tomorrow so I won't be here to communicate with ya'll and 2) Don needs more time to figure - he works full time and he can't do much between from 10:15 pm to 5AM on figuring Pick3 plays! He has to sleep sometimes!!!
Jan 29, 2003 - After the draw - From Dawn - Player #10 won tonight in Don's experiment! He had 978. Congratulations! More to come.
January 29, 2003 - From Dawn - Just for Fun - I received the following message from a player (Chuck) and since he's making a Pick 3 prediction, I thought I'd share it with you. I am not Don, but I like his message, his reasons and his picks. Not to mention the little fact that this is part of Don's experimental play. I apologize for it being in all caps but that's the way he sent it and I don't have time to edit it.
DON PROBABLY ALREADY SEES THIS BUT 37 HAS NOT HIT, AND 78 HAS NOT HIT THIS MONTH SO PUT THE TWO TOGETHER AND 378 MIGHT BE A GOOD PLAY.
THE TOTAL OF THOSE NUMBERS 18 HAS NOT HIT, THAT IS ANOTHER REASON I AM GOING TO PLAY 378.
THE OTHER ONLY CHANCE I SEE IS 58, WITH 78, OR 58 AND 89 TOGETHER WHICH TOTALS 20 OR 22.
THE 21 TOTAL NUMBERS HAS NOT HIT IN THE NIGHT DRAWING. I DON'T WATCH THE DAY PLAYS AS IT TAKES TO MUCH TIME TO PLAY BOTH. THAT IS THE PROBLEM WITH DAY DRAWINGS, I DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH IT INFLUENCES MY STRATEGY.
January 27, 2003 - From Don - To the lottoreport.com: Now that the Super Bowl is concluded we can turn our attention to important matters like winning money in the pick 3 game. Seriously, the Super Bowl is a huge betting bonanza. Who actually wins? The house and in a big way. They are guaranteed 5% or more on most wagers. That is a huge amount of money not counting all the exotic wagers people make like teasers, parlays, etc. That brings me to the subject of today's column, an important column for anyone who plays the pick 3 game. Spend some time reading the BACK of the pick 3 game playslip. Know the actual odds before you venture into something.
Let me condense some of the information for you.
The odds of winning exact are 1000 to 1.
The odds of hitting any order are 167 to 1 with 3 different numbers.
The odds of winning with 2 like numbers are 333 to 1.
The odds of winning a combo with 3 different numbers are also 167 to 1. (But more expensive.)
Think about that for a moment, 167 to 1. That is long, very long. Some would say impossible to correctly predict an outcome at.
And, of course, you all know what you receive if you "win". Less than half of that, $80. On an exact wager, at 1000 to 1, you receive $500.
Thus, the lottery can hold as many pick 3 games as they want AND they don't have to take in more money because they are guaranteed a profit due to the extreme odds. They can have a morning game, a day game, a night game, an after midnight game, and a breakfast game and they will have success and quite a bit of it.What if I told you that I was conducting an experiment that would effectively reduce the odds for you to less than 18 to 1 per event to win 80 to 1. And that I might be interested in conducting another experiment simultaneously to the one I am conducting now to see if I could produce a person who can win multiples of $500 at about 40 to 1. Would that peak your curiosity? Let us know what you think, we enjoy hearing from you very much! Don
From Dawn: I know that many of you are angry that you can't see Don's numbers BUT this is an experiment and we must insure validation. If I post a bunch of losing numbers and ya'll play and lose, then we'll lose credibility.
You all know that Don's been very successful in chosing 2 digits that should arrive - maybe his "favorites" didn't, but the two digits did. So, when JoAnn, the first winner said, "I had actually bought tickets for $1.00 only for the last four nights, because the numbers that I was given were not my favorites. Shows what I know. I kept thinking 034 and 368 would hit," my mind immediately went to Don and his "favorites."
I've been telling him for years that he should just tell players what 2 digits to play and leave it at that. And for your information, Don sent me plays for 2 years before I ever posted them. He proved to me that he was well versed on the game, had strategies based on valid calculations, reliable, and his picks were, for the most part, accurate.
Now he's working on a NEW theory, and while it was tested prior to my agreeing to post, it is still unproven and the volunteers KNOW this. Win or lose, we have players guaranteeing us they will spend a minimum of $2 per day just for for us ($36 per night). $2 per day can add up to a lot of money and some will absolutely lose even when they win (unless they buy a combo of course) - and I'll feel bad and so will Don! So, please don't get mad at me - just be patient for a little while. OK?
If we "really" produce a winner every 5 days, then we may post for all to see. Just give us a chance first.
January 25, 2003 - From Don - To the lottoreport.com: I love having my picks UNPUBLISHED! I wonder if Dawn agrees? I seem to do better when the numbers aren't unpublished. BUT, I also want to provide information to as many readers as possible so we can get these dollars where they belong, in the players pocket, or in Joannes case, her purse. (JoAnn was the 1st winner)I have strategies that I hope to evolve from the experiment that will place many people on the same numbers. Perhaps someday they'll pay us not to play anymore, wouldn't that be a great story!! In the meantime, there are more volunteers that I want to see win. Keep reading the lottoreport.com. Don
From Dawn - On the 19th of January, I posted a prediction from Jeff who said to play "295, 296, 391, 349 "any" order starting the 20th for 2 weeks both day and night draw." Well ... Congratulations Jeff. Your 391 and 349 was drawn in the day draws and they were also two of Don's 36 numbers that were "unpublished."
Jeff did NOT know what Don's picks were at the time he sent his message, however, I did know those two numbers were on Don's list too. So ... that told me that their minds were on the same track!
Since Jeff IS one of the 18 volunteers himself, I don't know if he'll have another prediction for us right now. If he does and if his numbers differ from Don's unpublished numbers, then I'll post his picks for you too.
FYI - Jeff did send a message at 8 PM on 1-24-03 that included 10 numbers for a "second prediction." It was to start today, 1-25-03. However, 6 of the numbers Jeff listed were the same that was on Don's unpublished page and 3 numbers contained a combination and/or ingredient that Don clearly spelled out in a message that was sent out to the volunteers at 8:55 that morning. That means only one of the 10 numbers could not have been derived by any of Don's writings. That number was 045 ANY. He recommended to play his numbers for 8 days and in the NIGHT draw only.
Jan 24, 2003 - 11 PM - Day 5 of experiment - Player #3 won with 439. And here's her response:
Hey Dawn and Don,
Attention Players - Wait until we hear from Don before playing. I think he will give ya'll new numbers.
January 24, 2003 - From Don - To the lottoreport.com
From Dawn - Day 4 of the experiment - 546 - was not one of Don's 36 numbers. We'll keep you posted. Today is day 5 of the experiment and so far, 18 players have lost $144 - $8 each.
Jeff sent an email this morning and said he was working on Prediction #2. So ... stay tuned. We'll give him another try!
January 23, 2003 - From Dawn - Day 3 of the experiment - 644 - was not one of Don's 36 numbers. We'll keep you posted. Today is day 4 of the experiment and so far, 18 players have lost $108 - $6 each.
Updated - After the Day Draw - Congratulations Jeff - your predicted "391 ANY" arrived today and players would have profitted. There were four numbers to play in both the day and night draw for a daily expense of $8 - Players would have played 3 and one-half days for a total expense of $28 and they would have received $80 in return meaning the profit was $52.
It's time to stop play on those numbers if your were playing them. Thank you Jeff. You did good! (Jeff's prediction is in the 1-19-03 message below)
January 22, 2003 - From Dawn - Day 2 of the experiment - 332 - was not one of Don's 36 numbers. It was very close but close only counts in horseshoes! We'll keep you posted. Today is day 3 of the experiment and so far, 18 players have lost $72 - $4 each.
January 21, 2003 - From Don - To the lottoreport.com: A personal thanks to all the volunteers for participating in the experiment. To those who are not in it right now, I expect you will be soon. I think volunteer number 8 and 13 would agree with me that there was almost an opening last night!
6 PM - 3rd Updated - January 20, 2003 - From Dawn - OK! We have only taken 18 players for the experiment. And all of you have been notified by email. The first play begins tonight - much to my surprise. Don called after lunch and said he had a play right now to experiment with so it has been issued.
Each player has been given 2 numbers to play (36 numbers total - 18 players) and they will play their assigned numbers until 1 of the 36 comes in. Which we hope will be real soon! Then, that player is deleted from the group so the others will have a chance to win too but with another set of numbers.
Depending on how this goes, we'll pull in "back-up" players who have volunteered after the 1st nine or ten wins. But, remember, we must take this one step at a time.
We'll keep all you posted so you will know each day if one of Dons numbers were drawn.
Sorry .... This will be fun and we'll tell you the TRUTH about the success or failure of this project.
1:15 PM - Sorry, no more volunteers! We will only use the 1st 18 players this time. In a little bit (it's 1:15 pm now), I will be posting more about this experiment and it will start immediately. I will be notifying the 18 players by email shortly - as soon as I set it up. This is going to be fun and if all goes well, all 18 will profit. More later.
10 AM - I'm posting this message without Don's knowledge but I think we have enough volunteers now. I suppose it would be safe to say that we could have back up players just in case someone choses not to play Don's picks. I felt it was necessary to post this message.
I think this will be a fun experiment and a profitable one. We'll see!
January 19, 2003 - From Don - To the lottoreport.com: I am pleased with the number of volunteers for my experiment. Although the experiment can commence at any time, I believe it would be in the interest of the people who have already volunteered to set a deadline so we can begin the experiment involving pick 3 play. I believe a good deadline will be January 24th so we might be able to begin the experiment on Monday the 27th.I will give the volunteers a "game plan" and they will know if others have won. I am trying to evaluate how to conduct the experiment using the scientific method of observation, study, and experimentation. The goal of the experiment is to lower the odds of the game using a system. All the wagers made will be of the "any" variety. Since there are 210 outcomes (not including triples) the actual odds are consistently 1 in 210 chances if one number is played. However, if the universe can be reduced to say, 36 numbers, selecting the correct day of the number would establish profits. Or if the universe was 90 numbers which paid more and the day could be selected, profits would be possible also.
I think those who continue to volunteer will enjoy a renewed enthusiasm for the game, an incredibly difficult game to realize profits. No volunteers will be refused. Keep reading lottoreport.com for updates. Don
From Dawn - When Don talked to me about this he asked if I thought we could get 18 volunteers for his experiment and I said "Yes, that should be easy." Well - WOW - I had 5 volunteers within 2 hours of posting! As I write this, we are already up to 13 volunteers and my heavy "hit" time for my web site hasn't even come yet! And if we get more than 18, we'll still let you participate - I think it will just mean the play can be divided by more folks though I'm not really sure how Don plans to run this project. Do remember, the only thing you have to do is send us a copy of your winning tickets and I'll get mad at you if you don't!!!!
I really want to take a second to thank ya'll for all the nice things you have said to me about my work, my web site and Don's page too.
Having a lottery could be such a great thing for "entertainment and fun" but only if the games and division of the sales are fair. Which they are NOT. The Texas lottery keeps more than their share of sales. Learning this firsthand has taken the fun out of it for me because I won't knowlingly and willingly screw anybody out of money nor will I allow anyone to screw me out of my hard earned dollars. And I seem to have this bad habit of fighting for the underdog!
Anyway, with your help and ONLY with your help, maybe we can change things here in Texas. I will be posting a survey in the next couple of days and I hope you and all of your friends will answer it. By the way, the questions on the survey are exactly what ya'll submitted several months ago.
Just for fun ... I received a special email that I decided to post too. It's from a guy named Jeff. Jeff has made a very specific "prediction" and I decided I'd share it with you.
Jeff's message read: "First, I would like to thank you for all the information that you provide and the predictions of "King Don." Keep up the good work!! Second of all, I would like to give you a prediction of my own. I know you don't know me but some little voice in my head said to write you ... Now you probably think I am real crazy, I hope not!! :) Anyway here goes ... instead of giving you 13 to 19 numbers like Don does, I am going to give you 4 numbers that will hit within two weeks starting Monday the 20th of January 2003 and maybe someday I will have my own "Prediction" page on your web site!!! The numbers are 295, 296, 391, 349 "any" order starting the 20th for 2 weeks both day and night draw. Thanks Again, Jeff.
I'll bet Jeff is surprised that I posted his message for ya'll! But I must add that for us to profit, the numbers must come in by the 9th day of play. If one comes in on the 10th day, we break even - 11th day, we lose. Good luck and thanks Jeff for the kind words. And NO, I don't think you are crazy!
January 18, 2003 - From Don - To the lottoreport.com: In reviewing the pick 3 statistics regarding the payouts in the pick 3 game, I am again apalled. I took a seven day average of what the game paid out at random and the payout to players was an outrageous 42%.
Some of the days were more appalling than others. In the night draw on 1-11-03, only 20% of the money taken in was paid out. Another statistic worthy of merit is the fact that in the day game between 11-27-02 and the present, the pick 3 game actually paid out MORE than they took in on 5 occasions.
If you pay out more than you take in you should close up and file bankruptcy correct? No, that isn't correct in the pick 3 game because it only takes ONE day to regain your losses in a typical day. An example of this would be the day pick 3 game on 1/16/2003 when the game took in $286,298 and paid out $58,010 for a whopping 20.26%. That's right, the state won 79% of all the money taken in!!!!!Why does this happen? It happens because when you play an "any" ticket there are 220 outcomes, 120 numbers with 3 different digits, 90 double digits, and 10 triple digits.
If 210 people played all 210 numbers "any" (exclude the triples) the most they will pay out is $160 on a $1 wager. That is 76% of what they paid out. But, they have a 72% chance of having the number contain 3 different digits thus, paying out $80 for the $210 wagered. Thus, 80 divided by 210 is 38% of all the money taken in. Does the state then have any risk? Not really.
If you go out and play a number you like to play tonight because you do it every day you have about the same chance of guessing my birthday if I tell you it is between January and July. If I bet you $1 that you couldn't guess my birthday if it is between January and July, would you take that bet? I don't think so. Yet, that's what you do when you play the pick 3 game often. Try to avoid that.As I have written, the pick 3 game does have some risk for the state if everyone is playing the same number. Yes it is very small, about 99% in their favor but I am working on strategies which have some promise.
I would be interested in conducting an experiment with a small group of volunteers on a limited basis and absolutely no money will be changing hands. The experiment is necessary because although my testing has promise, an actual test may differ, especially an UNPUBLISHED experiment. Feedback would help. Don
If you would like to volunteer for Don, then email me and I will forward to him. He is looking to "document" his plays. By that I mean he will ask you to play certain numbers in a specific way and if you win, he wants a copy of your ticket. You will have to buy the tickets and be willing to win or lose. Of course, you keep your winnings IF you win. Here is a link to e-mail me. email@example.com
